Research Group
BIOCLIM – Bioclimatology and Global Change
The group of Bioclimatology and Global Change studies how the atmospheric environment affects the health and well-being of living beings, analysing climate patterns, interactions in the Earth system and the adaptation of the planet and its inhabitants to climate risks. With a multidisciplinary approach, this research group investigates the vulnerability of populations in the context of global change.
BIOCLIM’s associated staff have a multi- and interdisciplinary background and translational expertise in the areas of geography, ecology, physics, biometeorology, epidemiology and biostatistics.
Research Lines
- Effects of the atmospheric environment on mortality and morbidity.
- Spatio-temporal and geographical behaviour of atmospheric variables.
- Interactions of processes between different components of the Earth system in the context of Global Change.
- Adaptation to climate risks. Vulnerability and exposure.
- Creating open data to understand many natural, anthropogenic and social processes.
